Zurich Airport to the Ausserfern
Distance: 280km
Duration: 3hrs
Recommended route: Take the access road south from Zurich
airport and join the motorway towards St Gallen. Enter Austria at Lustenau
and follow the signs for Bregenz and Germany. Take the motorway north towards
the Memmingen junction and then turn south-east in the direction of Füssen.
Leave the motorway at the Oy junction and follow the signs for Pfronten and
Austria.
Friedrichshafen Airport to the Ausserfern
Distance: 120km
Duration: 2hrs
Recommended route: Head east in the direction of Wangen
from the airport and then follow the B12 local road across country until
it reaches the motorway described above at the Allgäu junction. Leave the
motorway
at
the Oy junction and follow the signs for Pfronten and Austria. Alternatively
follow the route given above once the motorway is reached from Friedrichshafen.
Stuttgart Airport to the Ausserfern
Distance: 220km
Duration: 2hrs 20mins
Recommended route: Take the A8 in the direction of Ulm and
then turn onto the A7 at the Ulm-Elchingen junction. Leave the motorway at
the Oy junction and follow the signs for Pfronten and Austria.
Munich Airport to the Ausserfern
Distance: 160km
Duration: 2hrs
Recommended route: Take the motorway south towards Munich
and head through the city on the Mittlerer Ring following the signs for Starnberg
and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Once on the motorway again follow the road south
until the motorway finishes at Farchant and then follow the signs for Ettal
and Oberammergau onto the local road. Bypass Oberammergau and follow the
signs for Austria and Reutte. Alternatively, at the end of the motorway continue
south towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen and follow the signs for Ehrwald and
Lermoos.
Innsbruck Airport to the Ausserfern
Distance: 90km
Duration: 1hr 20mins
Recommended route: Take the motorway westwards in the direction
of the Arlberg and Switzerland. Exit the motorway at Mötz and climb onto
the Mieminger plateau. Follow the signs for Nassereith and the Fernpass.
Past the Fernpass, descend to Lermoos and the Ausserfern. (Note that this
route can be slow in bad weather conditions and winter driving equipment
is advisable or obligatory in snow. Local advice should be sought about the
